Abstract

Introduction: Bibliometrics is a useful tool for journals to diagnose their current status and formulate editorial strategies. Objective: To describe the scientific production published in the Cuban Journal of Hematology, Immunology and Hemotherapy. Methods: Observational, descriptive, retrospective, bibliometric study of the articles published by the Cuban Journal of Hematology, Immunology and Hemotherapy between 2017 and 2021. Productivity, citation impact, collaboration and use metrics were studied. Results: 277 articles were published, of which 178 were original and 100 % were open access. The articles were signed by 568 authors. The Hematology and Immunology Institute was the most productive institution (204 articles). 11 of the articles received some type of funding and 1,4 % had international collaboration. 161 research themes were obtained, grouped into 68 clusters, where topics related to Leukemia (n = 75) and sickle cell anemia (n = 72) predominated. A co-occurrence mapping of terms was carried out, resulting in 78 terms with more than 7 frequencies organized into 8 clusters. Conclusions: A trend towards increasing articles and authors was observed, but with a decrease in the number of citations received by the journal. There was a predominance of internal institutional and national authorship, with still incipient international collaboration. The co-word analysis showed areas of interest for research to be regenerative medicine, leukemia, transfuntional medicine, biological markers and COVID-19.
