Abstract

Introduction: The treatment of severely ill patients with non-promyelocytic acute myeloid leukemia is a challenge. The prediction of survival through the identification of prognostic risk factors in intensive care units is an essential tool in the care of these patients. Objectives: To describe the prognostic factors for early death in criticallly ill patients with non-promyelocytic acute myeloid leukemia who are admitted to the intensive care unit. Methods: An exhaustive review of the literature was carried out through databases PubMed, Scielo, ScienceDirect, Medline and the Google Scholar search engine. Articles published in the last ten years were used as references.Analysis and synthesis of the information: General aspects of prognostic factors for early death in critically ill patients with non-promyelocytic acute myeloid leukemia are described. Sepsis, respiratory failure and kidney failure, their diagnostic criteria, as well as their evolution in intensive care units. Conclusions: Knowledge of the prognostic factors for early death in seriously ill patients with non-promyelocytic acute myeloid leukemia allows adequate monitoring and the creation of individual strategies to improve the survival of these patients in intensive care.
