Update on Epstein Barr virus associated diffuse large B cell lymphoma

Abstract

Introduction: Epstein Barr virus positive Diffuse Large B-cell lymphoma associated is a common aggressive entity in South America and Asia, affecting patients of all ages. Objective: To establish the current knowledge of Epstein Barr virus positive Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.

Method: A bibliographic review on the subject was carried out on the websites: Pubmed, Medline and Scielo, which included original articles, reviews, meta-analyses, in English and Spanish, published until December 2022.

Conclusions: Epstein Barr virus positive Diffuse Large B-cell lymphoma is an entity with an unfavorable prognosis in Asia and Latin America. There are new prognostic scores for the identification of risk subgroups. Treatment is with the anthracycline-based regimen. However, new therapeutic strategies are expected for this subtype of lymphoma.
