Abstract

Introduction: Nursing staff have a key position in the care of people with hematological diseases; therefore, the knowledge and skills are necessary for successful performance.

Objective: To assess the implementation of a training system that contributes to the performance of nursing technicians in the care of people with hematological diseases.

Method: A descriptive and observational study at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology between July 1st, 2021 and July 30th, 2022 was made. A survey was applied and performance observation was carried out on 35 nursing technicians. Descriptive statistics, distribution of absolute and relative frequencies, and percentage calculation were used.

Results: The female sex predominated (65,7%), with less than five years of graduation (57,2%). The most difficult dimension was the investigative scientific dimension (27,2%). Nursing observations were written repetitive descriptive notes (57,1%) and poorly prepared nursing diagnoses (66,7%). Positive changes could be seen in all indicators once a training system was implemented. The group satisfaction index was evaluated as very satisfactory.

Conclusions: The implementation of the training system produced significant changes in the performance of nursing technicians in the care of people with hematological diseases, which confirms the relevance, feasibility and development in practice.
