Objective: To describe the main contributions of care for pregnant women with sickle cell disease at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology.

Methods: A literature review was conducted, in English and Spanish, encompassing original and review articles published in the last five years, retrieved using the Google Scholar, SciELO, and PubMed search engines. Older publications were also included due to their historical value.

Conclusions: Comprehensive care for pregnant women with sickle cell disease at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology includes personalized actions aimed at maintaining the downward trend in maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality indicators. Furthermore, it reaffirms the institution's commitment to increasing diagnostic and therapeutic options, consolidating Cuba's position as a leader in the field, with health policies that respect the mother's autonomy and support the family, which contributes to increased survival rates for both mother and child and strengthens family unity.
